How to Tell If You’re Suffering Anxiety Symptoms

Panic attacks, panic disorders and anxiety disorders are becoming more and more common. Maybe you’ve experienced anxiety symptoms, or think you may have, and you’d like to know more. It can be very scary to have an anxiety disorder, and sometimes symptoms of anxiety may make you wonder whether you’re seriously ill, or even going crazy! Racing Heart

It’s no surprise that many people are diagnosed with a panic disorder after a visit to the emergency room! One of the most common anxiety symptoms are palpitations, or a racing heart, and often, even chest pains. If you experience these particular anxiety disorder symptoms, you might think you’re having a heart attack. Of course, when you’re exercising, or have experienced something that would legitimately be expected to cause a racing heart, that’s one thing, but if it’s unexplained, it may be an anxiety disorder.

Shortness of Breath and Excessive Sweating

Public speaking is one area where you would expect to feel a little breathless, and maybe have sweaty palms. In that instance, those symptoms would be completely normal, hover, if you’re experiencing a shortness of breath, or excessive sweating, of your palms or otherwise, at other times, without good reason, chances are they’re anxiety symptoms. Hyperventilating, or a tightness in your throat, as well as sweating, are common anxiety symptoms, and may indicate that you need treatment for a panic disorder.

Generalised, Overwhelming Dread

If you’re feeling a sense of dread, without being able to decisively pinpoint the reason, it’s almost certainly one of the symptoms of anxiety that should prompt you to seek treatment. Basically, for no clear reason, you begin to feel afraid. Since there’s no reason, you also can’t just discount it, or rationalize it, and if you get this feeling often, you might have a panic disorder.

Hot Flushes or Chills

Maybe you’ve felt a sudden, unexplained hot flush, or chills. If there’s no good reason, like an illness, to explain these temperature chances, or perceived changes, they may be anxiety symptoms. When they happen for no good reason, with no external stimuli, they’re almost always a symptom of an anxiety or panic disorder.

Stomach Issues

Have you ever noticed that when you get stressed out for some reason, your stomach feels like it’s sinking into your shoes? As anxiety symptoms go, this is another common one. Unexplained nausea, cramps and other stomach problems can be caused by panic disorders, and if there’s no explanation for your symptoms, it might be a good idea to have yourself screened for anxiety disorders. Alone, they may not be associated with anxiety, but if you experience other anxiety attack symptoms, such as those mentioned here, a warning flag should go up!

Anxiety symptoms are usually the same thing we’d experience when we have a genuine reason to feel fear. The body’s fight or flight mechanisms are our way of protecting ourselves from danger, and perfectly normal and healthy. It’s when we experience these symptoms with no clear cause that it’s likely we’re suffering a panic disorder.
